Dusk scene from the Rockfort temple - Trichy

 

The Rockfort temple in Trichy is a spectacular place to visit in the evening. The temple at the top of the hill right at the center of the city and also the temples hewed into the rock face at the levels below are places where you can spend a whole evening. The view of the city from the top is very beautiful but on the way down we were presented with this marvel of a street light shining on the ancient path to the thousand year old temple. The backdrop of dusk, the city lights below and the bottles of pepsi - a perfect blend of  the eternal and the commonplace.

The scene above is sculpted. You will find it just at the entrance to the Adi Chunchungiri Math a little way off from the Bangalore-Hassan highway. A timeless scene captured to perfection. Whoever created must so love the deep beauty of the simple life lived and re-lived over the ages.
